A couple of years ago before 2022's Sonic Frontiers, Sonic Team director Takashi Iizuka exclaimed in several promotional interviews that he would one day love to remake the classic fan-favourite game Sonic Adventure. This news sent the Sonic community into a frenzy, however, sadly no remakes were developed.
Now it looks like for some bizarre reason, Iizuka's opinion about this subject matter has changed, and they seem to not be interested in remaking Sonic Adventure 1 and 2 anymore.
According to Tails Channel who often post pieces of news like this, Iizuka said in a recent interview with Shacknews:
It is just a shame they don't hand over the rights to Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 to some developer who would actually want to remake it. Sega are happy to do some Classic Sonic crap every couple of years but still refuse to remake Sonic Adventure 1 & 2 for highly elitist reasons like these. So we're just gonna ignore stuff like Sonic Colors Ultimate and Sonic X Shadow Generations yeah?
Also, no doubt an ongoing lawsuit with Crush 40 vocalist Johnny Gioeli over the ownership rights & unpaid loyalties of the Sonic Adventure 2 song Live & Learn, may have changed Iizuka's mind on the prospect of remaking the Adventure games. Sega lost a lot of the rights to the music from Sonic Adventure & Sonic Adventure 2 decades ago, and that is some messy business.
What do you think about the subject? Are you annoyed about Iizuka not wanting to remake the classic Adventure titles, or do you think it is for the best? Why don't they just port them outside of the Xbox Arcade versions to modern consoles in one collection?
If you are disappointed with this news, why not check out this fan remake of Sonic Adventure 2 some guy is making in Unreal Engine 5 instead.
