Cameron Hons Escapes From The Void With New Album "Songs From The Void"

It's certainly been a while since the last Cameron Hons album, the blues inspired In The Mood was released back in February 2025. There's been several reasons why there has been a long absence of no new Cameron Hons music lately. People started asking questions.

"I was enjoying some time off" says Cameron, "But it wasn't without its issues. Back in April this year, my computer started showing signs of struggle. I kept it around for as long as I could. It died in June just suddenly. Shut off, Motherboard dead nothing. So I took out the important things like the Hard Drive and Bluray Drive, they still worked fine. I had to get a new computer."

It was during this time Cameron started to come up with some ideas for new music. However, even earlier in the year, plans for a new Midnight Helicopters album was discussed, but sadly fell apart. Cameron explains it was "Reasons beyond my control, unfortunately we couldn't do a new Midnight Helicopters album this year. I was so disappointed." Ideas for this next Midnight Helicopters album that unfortunately didn't happen were penned down. "One of the first songs I had come up with was a track called 'You Can't Go Wrong With Donkey Kong. The other was "Fake Estate". Actually, the album was going to be called "Fake Estate". But when we couldn't do the Midnight Helicopters one, I decided to save some ideas of mine and use them just in case when my next album comes around."

Into The Void features 12 brand new songs full of variety and different types of music. From rock, blues, hip hop, electronic, and even jazz. "There's a fair amount of hip-hop influence on this album" says Cameron "but still plenty of guitars, keyboards and drums to make it up for it."

Another leading single of the album is "Game Grading" a song which discusses the frustrations of being a "retro game" collector, and dealing with fraudulent or manipulated game grading market. "Everyone knows it's complete BS" says Cameron.

From the blues rock stylings of "Sharin' The Footpath", and "Is That Elitist", to more quieter ballad type songs such as "Too Much Music". There certainly is a mixture of great styles of music on "Songs From The Void". "Cold Calls" is another fun track, with a great mixture of keyboards and rhythm, and don't forget about the other lead single of the record "What's The Matta With Parramatta". "Broken Computer Blues" is the self explanatory problem that Cameron was going through throughout mid 2025. "What Planet Are You From" asks the question to people who want to be rude and disrespectful to others for no reason. "Hello There Colin" is another jazzy number which keeps the meme alive. The album ends on a heavily electronic "Posting In The Void", which reflects Cameron's thoughts about the current state of social media today.

There is something for everyone on this new album from Australian Comedy Rock musician Cameron Hons, and thankfully Cameron's back making new music again. You can listen to his new album now on Bandcamp or on Internet Archive today. If you enjoyed it, be sure to give him a follow on BandCamp which also keeps listeners up to date with his latest releases.
