Back in March 2025 it was reported that US Indie Film Distributors, Ketchup Entertainment purchased the on-again, off again Coyote VS Acme movie for a modest price of $50 million, for global distribution in 2026. Recently, they took the movie to Cannes Film Market to shop it around for international buyers via Kinology.
Now the movie is on again, and this time it means business. It looks like some countries have decided to take part already. According to newly sourced information via Brazilian film portal CinePop, Coyote Vs Acme is expected to release in Brazil Theaters on October 9 2026 from translated articles. This is the first presumed theatrical listing release date, although it's unconfirmed if Brazil will be around some of the first or last countries to screen the film. There, the film has been purchased by Paris Films, the same distributors who picked up The Day The Earth Blew Up! for the Brazilian film release.
Either way, it is good news as the film's international rollout is expected to continue, hopefully we'll hear more news of premieres in other countries in the next couple of months (hey, Pinnacle Films can you buy Coyote VS Acme in Australia? You guys did a great job with releasing The Day The Earth Blew Up! here).
Coyote VS Acme, a animated live action hybrid Looney Tunes movie - Directed by Dave Green, was expected to release originally via Warner Bros in July 2023, but was taken off the schedule and eventually shelved as a tax write off. Many people such as actors in the movie, the film industry including Looney Tunes fans were dismayed by the decision and started global campaigns to get the movie released.
Plans to shop the film around to streamers in late 2023 failed, while it was reported that the movie was axed again, despite being fully completed and proving positive with test screenings. Originally Paramount were interested in theatrically screening the film but made no serious offers.
It is great that Ketchup Entertainment has saved Coyote VS Acme as they also saved the other Looney Tunes animated film, The Day The Earth Blew Up! which was also given a theatrical release around the world in 2024/2025. It managed to gain a modest $15 million from it's $15 million dollar budget, making most of it's production value back. It had a limited release in the US and wide distribution in other countries such as Germany, Czechia, Asia and Australia. The Day The Earth Blew Up! gained positive reviews from critics and animation fans alike. Hopefully, the same should be said about Coyote VS Acme too.
We here at Emerald Rangers have been extensively covering the updates and support for the release of Coyote VS Acme since it's first cancellation back in November 2023. We are pleased the movie is finally going to be released after all this time and hope to see it in the cinemas on day 1.
Coyote VS Acme stars John Cena, Will Forte, Lana Condor and voice actor Eric Bauza (Coyote is silent in the movie) as Coyote plans to file legal proceedings against the Acme company for all the failed products he has purchased over the years in a bid to catch the Roadrunner. The movie's plot is based on the 1990 New Yorker column by author Ian Fraizer. It's expected to have traditional animated styles mixing with live action cast, inspired by films like Who Framed Roger Rabbit.
