Sonic Prime is Cancelled on Netflix

Despite having a popular reception, it looks like Netflix's animated series Sonic Prime has been cancelled after 3 seasons. Season 3 is expected to be released sometime in early 2023.
The new series is a fresh and original take on the Sonic the Hedgehog universe, one that was welcomed by many fans. It also has a brand new voice cast which many fans including myself praised more than the current game cast. Sonic (voiced by Deven Mack), gets sucked into a parallel universe - the Shatterverse, and has to fix everything in order to escape from it.

The 3D animated series launched in 2022, so far spanned 2 seasons of 8 episodes, that are roughly around 30 minutes each.

According to CARTOON BASE original source on Twitter, Sonic Prime creator Duncan Rouleau has announced that Season 3 will be its last. In total the whole series would gain 24 episodes.

Although Sonic Prime may be ending, NCircle are planning to release Season 1 on Bluray, and you can pre order it now, which is set to release in March 2024. It is great that NCircle have taken over the rights to release Sonic content from Diskotek Media. NCircle also recently released a new boxset of Sonic Underground and Sonic SatAM. Hopefully, NCircle will release the complete series on Bluray.

In the mean time, a new Sonic show, KNUCKLES will be heading to Paramount+ sometime in early 2024 as well, which will be the first live action miniseries of the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise, from director Jeff Fowler. Also, Sonic The Hedgehog 3 is expected to hit cinemas in December this year, so there is still plenty of more exciting Sonic content to come, despite Sonic Prime's cancellation.
